Time to move on from Sony PRS-300
Hello, all -
Well, it's finally happened. My beloved PRS-300 isn't doing it for me anymore. It's got too much of a lag time when I "turn" pages, it's not holding a charge for as long as I'd like and the library set up is clunky. It's time for me to upgrade, but I don't know where to start, so I'm turning to you for guidance! I don't need color and don't need wi-fi (although if it's included, great). The size of the PRS-300 was good, never felt like I was shortchanged. I don't keep tons of books on my e-reader. Maybe 20-30. When I'm finished reading one, off it goes. The ink for the PRS-300 was great...bright sunlight or lamp, my eyes never got tired. So, wise readers...What do you think? What current model e-reader is going to replicate my PRS-300 experience, but better? Thanks! |

I don't know if this seems like too obvious an answer or not, but have you considered the new Pocket Edition (PRS-350)?
It has the new Pearl screen for faster page turns, good battery life and same 5" screen size. No color or wifi though. |

You might want to wait a bit. Sony is supposed to be coming out with new readers in August. Well, maybe not new as in totally different but upgraded ones of the current line. There was a post on it in either the News or General Discussion forum.
![]() I upgraded from a 300 to 350 and adore my 350. I even went and bought a second after being afraid that Sony wasn't going to make them anymore. OOOPS! Unless it's a dead unit, I'd wait before buying to see what Sony comes up with in August. |

It sounds like you will be happy with the 350 but I am with Shopaholic, if you can wait, wait. There are new readers being announced. And if you are not excited about the new ones, the prices on the current models should drop.

The Sony 350 is a good choice for a replacement. I have one & it goes everywhere with me. But if you can wait a month or two to see what Sony is coming up with net, I would.

I am going with the posters above me. I love my PRS-350, but the new ones are due in October according to the Pottermore rumors, so wait three months and see how they look.

Ah geez, I completely forgot about the Sony Reader refresh, which is pretty silly considering the fact that I was waiting for a new 7" or larger reader from Sony...
Yeah, I'd hold off if I were you. |

My 505 is starting to show its age. Whereas I would normally go through one battery bar per week, I just went through four in the past seven days. Hopefully that will turn out to be an anomaly as I want to see what the new models are like.
. Problem is I'm addicted to the damn thing and, if it does die now, I couldn't stand to be without an eBook reader while waiting for the new ones to come out. Sigh |

I'm going to go against the general thoughts here and say go for a 350 now.
Even if Sony does release a new reader line in 3 months, I'd be quite (happily) shocked if they do much more than add wi-fi support to the existing line. If you've been happy with your 300 until now, I think that you'll be very pleased with a 350. If Sony comes out with something extraordinarily better in 3 months that makes you angry that you bought a 350 now, you can blame me for the peer pressure. |

Thanks, everyone!
Thanks, everyone for your help! I am definitely going to look at the 350 as my replacement. I don't know whether to buy now or wait until October, but at least I know what to look for. What I really need is for Woot to offer the 350...that's how I got hooked on my Sony in the first place!

$114 for a Kindle postpaid. And the books generally are cheaper. And there are many more of them.

Wrong e-book format and the OP wants a 5 inch screen. The K3 does not have EPUB and is 6 inches so it is out of the running.
