Urban Spoon

I downloaded Urban Spoon from the marketplace and tried to install it. It won't install. Has anybody had any experience with this APP?

Is there a list of apps that are known to run on the Edge 2.2 platform?

Thanks.

What is Urban Spoon?? (I will have to look it up. )

There are several lists of apps that are known to work. Start with the stickies at the top of this forum. There are some threads in the archived forum too, I think.

Side note: I looked up Muscovy Duck in one of my bird books and there you were!

Edit: I looked up Urbanspoon and before my browser crashed (I'm on my EE) I saw that the Android version of the app allows you to "shake" for restaurants. My guess is this requires an accelorometer which the eDGe does not have. You can always look up Urban Spoon in your browser for whatever city. Not as much fun, but hey . . . .

As Filark says there are the names of apps that work scattered all through the forum and sometimes it is a specific version that works. The best place I've found for older versions of free apps is http://www.freewarelovers.com/android

You must remember that Android is primarily a phone operating system and many of the apps are written to make use of the hardware specific to a smart phone, much of that hardware the eDGe does not have so anything relying on hardware that isn't there won't work.

Thanks, Ivanjt and Filark. I guess I'm spoiled, having access to the Apple app store. I guess I will have to put my self into "orphan device mode"

This device is perfect for what I need it to do. Read books and occasionally get email and surf the net. It's really nice that Calibre recognizes it. Although it's nearly as easy to just drop the e-pub file into the download folder. The transfer is so fast that I have to check to make sure the download actually took place (either directly or with Calibre) - actually a lot faster than with either the iPad1 or the iPad 2. It's also nice to feel that Steve Jobs is not looking over your shoulder all the time.

By the way, Moscovy ducks are, apparently, the last remnant of the Spanish Conquistadors. The Spaniards brought them along when they landed in South Florida. They are almost as numerous as the Canada Geese we have up north, and just as messy.
