I've been trying to download books from Girlebooks, since they have some great freebies in a variety of file formats. But I can't seem to get the EPUBs (or PDFs... I've tried both) onto my Kobo. The books appear in ADE when I download them, so I can read them right away... but they don't appear in the menu, so I have no way of transferring them to my Kobo device. I've tried saving directly to ADE and the Kobo, without any luck. The files are there... but they're not accessible to read.
Has anybody else had this problem? I mean, I'd like to read some of these books... but not if I have to download them every time I want to read them! |

Just tried "Dear Enemy" from the site on my Wifi and original. Download the e-pub and just drag and drop the e-pub file directly into the main directory on the Kobo (they're not DRM so don't worry about going through ADE) and it should process new content when you disconnect it and show up in "I'm reading" as a new book (as well as under "Books"). Worked on both of mine. Loading via Calibre is also an option.

Thanks. That seems to have worked. A bit disconcerting to not be able to see what you're loading, though!

I've never had to use "Add to Library" for any book before. It does work (so thanks for that), but I'm curious as to why these books don't automatically get added to the library like all of the other EPUBs I've downloaded.

If you open an .acsm file it automatically downloads the ePub to the directory that ADE maintains, and adds it to your ADE library. But if you just open an ePub, it doesn't get put into the library. (took me a while to figure that one!)
