Hello
Just joined up looking to become educated as best I can about ereaders.

I'm considering getting one for my 13 year old daughter and know nothing about these devices.

Questions I'll be looking for help with:
1) affordability (initial purchase as well as ebook costs)
2) parental control (is there any?)
3) usability
4) whatever else I need to know!

Thus far, I like the Kindle 3 for affordability and usability, but I like the Nook for lack of proprietary format (ie, ePub compatibility).

Anyway, I'll be browsing a bit trying to become an educated consumer and I appreciate the info in advance.

Welcome to MR! When you ask about parental control, the first thing I thought of was a device that didn't have wireless, so perhaps you could do some of that controlling somehow on the home computer? With wireless, I think your daughter is free to download what she likes from wherever she likes.... but, eh, maybe not?

Hi and welcome. Have you seen the new Kobo Pandigital? They are on sale now in Canada (Future Shop has a great price). Colour screen, touch screen and affordable. I have a Sony 650, but if I had seen the new Kobo I might have gone with it instead.
