This morning (half an hour ago) I turned my computer on, waiting to see iSiloX start working right away (as it does every Monday morning). But it didn't.
![]() So I opened iSiloX manually. Its window appeared, but not "maximized", as it was the last time (every time, actually) I used it... something was wrong, I could tell. The name of my WCC was in the title bar, but I could not see anything, it was only a series of blank rows. ![]() I right-clicked every row, only to find out that they were actually empty (I was hoping it was only a malfunction of the display, white fonts or something, what do I know?). I copied my WCC file to other folders. I closed and reopened the file, as well as iSiloX. No use. I can open other .ixl files, they work fine... but my WCC is gone. ![]() I made a couple of searches in the forums, but apparently this hasn't occurred to anyone else. Can someone tell me how to recover my file? Could it be stored somewhere else? Is this common? In any case, backup your .ixl files, buddies. Spare yourselves the pain and sorrow of seeing your WCC disappear. |

I've had this happen to me a few times using iSiloXC on the Mac. I attributed it to incorrect syntax somewhere in the IXL. After searching around a backup, I found the error, corrected it, and tried it again with much better results.
However, unless you were manually playing around with the IXL file you use (your WCC), I don't see how that could be your problem. |

I edited the .ixl file in WordPad, I guess that's what you mean with playing around manually. Shortly after, I had a problem with one of the channels, which I erased. But since then, I hadn't had any problems... until yesterday.
Today, I opened the .ixl file in a text editor. The corrupted file looks like this: <?xml version="1.0"?> <iSiloXDocumentList> <iSiloXDocument> <Source/> <Destination/> <LinkOptions/> <ImageOptions/> <TableOptions/> <ColorOptions/> <MarginOptions/> <SecurityOptions/> <TextOptions/> <DocumentOptions/> <Bookmarks> <Document/> </Bookmarks> <LastConversion/> </iSiloXDocument> <iSiloXDocument> on and on I think this means the file was corrupted by iSiloX. Thank you. |

hmm, that's what I meant, editing outside of iSiloX. The corrupted file looks about the same as what happened to me, as if the slate was wiped clean.
Like I said the only thing I can think of is that somewhere, there was an error in the syntax of your .ixl file. Like you said in your initial post, the best thing you can do is from now on, amke sure you have a second copy lying around on your harddrive so you can pick up where you left off if something happened. If it is a very recent backup, then just go through and check it for syntax errors. |
