Android with 'paperwhite' eink?

I'm looking for Android tablet with 'paperwhite'-like white e-ink display. For example I have Max2 which is disappointing. I can use it only outdoors or during the day when sitting close to the window, otherwise it's uncomfortable to read. The screen is creamy-gray, most likely due to the touch layer on top of the display. On the other hand I can use Kobo H2O (front-light off) in any place indoors during the day or in the night with artificial light, because it has enough contrast.

Of course there are tablets with a front-light, but I don't like it. Front light might come in handy for temporary situations, but I much more prefer OLED screens than any e-reader with front-light I tested.

I guess the only candidate is a tablet with Carta eink, without any layers, like touch, wacom, etc.

Asking because it's really hard to find that info. My aging eyes needs more light, to the point that 99% in a restaurants indoors I have to use my phone to light up the menu so I can read it because it's too dark for reading for me.

PS. I'm really disappointed about the color e-ink tech, too bad, I thought I could have one some day

PS2. asking here in Onyx section because I'm looking for Android tablet where I could freely install additional open source apps I'd like to have on it.

I know what you mean about layers in front of the E-Ink. One of the really good things about the old non-touch, non-front-lit E-Ink screens was that the pigments appeared to be on the top of the screen - not at some depth inside the display. I do miss that on recent displays, especially the 'flush' ones that add some glass in front!
