Baen Book Font Issues

I'm downloading them from Baen's website as epub -- but they define it as "EPUB/Kindle/Apple iOS/Nook format." (I don't know if that makes a difference.)

Then, I use USB to put them directly on my Kobo. When I open the Baen ebooks, the font is HUGE. And if I could simply adjust it, that would be fine. But when I adjust the font size in the Baen ebooks, then it affects the font size on all other ebooks.

Is there another step I should take? After I download the epubs from Baen, should I convert them in Calibre to another format?

Edit the font size in Sigil or in the calibre editor.

Converting won't change the font size in the css.

It's also possible that the huge font size is due to the kepub/epub font size difference. What is the file extension of the Baen epub? Is it .epub or .kepub.epub? And what format are your other books - epub or kepub?

The Baen ebooks are .epub. Most of my imported Kobo ebooks have the .epub extension. My Martha Wells Humble Bundle ebooks are .epub, and they open up with a rather large font. My ebooks from a recent sword & sorcery Kickstarter are .epub, and they open with a huge font as well.

One exception is books from WMG Publishing (and their Kickstarters) -- those are kepub.epub. And they open up with a more normal font size.

EDITED TO ADD: But I haven't been adding or converting any of these through Calibre. I download them from the websites, and then I load them directly to the Kobo via USB.

Epubs have much larger default font size than kepubs in the Kobo reading application. The solutions are:

1) install the patch "Unify font sizes", or
2) convert your epubs to kepub either in Calibre or with Kepubify

That is the difference between the adobe--epub-- render and the Kobo--Kepub--render on your kobo.

Just send them to your kobo as a Kepud using calibre.

I'm glad there's a bulk conversion option.

I'm sad that I already organized all those ebooks into collections on my Kobo.

Not really a conversion option as in you will end up with kepubs in your calibre library. Select the Use Kobo viewer for ePub books option on the second page of the KoboTouch driver configuration dialog and your ePubs will be converted on the fly to kepub when sent to your Kobo.

Personally, I use the Unify Font sizes patch so the base font size in ePub and kepub is the same. That will not require you to resend the books to your Kobo.
