This plugin for KOReader has the functionality to create notes for terms or phrases and display them in other occurrences.

Basic workflow:

Create a note for a word or word group.
See these notes on other occurrences.
Set aliases to see the same note for other variations of the word.
You can set some books to use the same notes on them. ( for series, etc. )

Tested on Kobo Forma, Kindle Touch, and Ubuntu

How do I install it?

I tried unzipping it and putting the resulting folder (memobook.koplugin) in…

.adds/koreader/plugins/ (is this correct?)

and after highlighting a word, Dictionaries pops up with Memo, but when I press on it…

Don’t panic! (crash n°1 -> 1) tap screen to continue.
With a nice picture of a bomb with a lit fuse.

I am running KOReader on an old Kobo Glo, did I install it right?

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, that should be sufficient. Which version of KOReader are you using? Could you share the related part of the crash log? ( which is in .adds/koreader/crash.log )

I couldn't reproduce your error on my devices. So I need the error log from your side. You may try to upgrade your KOReader and try again also.

It’s KOReader v2024.11

Strangely Mobileread wouldn’t let me just Upload the crash.log because, I guess .log "is not a valid file extensions", although seems to me it should be, and they should add it to their list of acceptable extensions, exactly for this sort of request.

So I archived it and attached he resulting crash.log.zip.

The version you're using is missing the KOReader features MemoBook requires (ButtonDialog:addWidget(), etc.), so the plugin crashes when it tries to open.

Backporting those APIs would require significant changes, which I don't plan to do.

Please upgrade to KOReader 2025.08 or any newer build, such as yesterday’s 2025.10 release; the plugin works normally in these versions.

Thanks for the idea. However, since notes are stored in SQL, cross-device syncing can be difficult to develop.
