Merge Book Records combines description contentss

When merging book records, it appears that the description field is also merged, rather than replaced.

Is there some way that I can configure calibre to keep only the selected (merge into first selected record, delete others), rather than adding the description field of all merged duplicate records into the final record?

This is not configurable, keeping all comments is the safe option, you dont loose anything that way and you can always delete the extras after merging if needed.
