Library Descriptions
I have a ton of libraries for different reasons, but I name them by initials or something that really doesn't help me if I forget what it's for.
I think there should be a banner across the top along with the library name where I could write a brief description. |

??
The window (W10) title bar says: calibre--||Mainlib :: To Read My Library folder is MainLib The current VL is To Read You might want to use a bit longer Library name ![]() Use Rename Library on the Library icon (remember to update the folder name in any backup routines ) |

I am looking at what you wrote but I am not following. Many of my libraries are ok, but some of them are just initials - MHOWRR - I remember this one 'May, Have, or Will Re-Read" but I came across an old one today that I couldn't figure out "ALNITL" Amazon Lists, not in libraries" and long story short - I don't use the VL's I just want to be able to give a short description of the name where you put the VL header? I want it to have a description just a few characters not a lot but something so when I go into a weirdly named library I can figure out what it was for and not have to rename it so that I remember.

@Rellwood - IIRC you use Windows.
If that's so, you could add a desktop.ini file to all your library folders, and put a description into the Infotip element, when you hover on the library folder in File explorer you'll see your description, thus: You'll need to tell calibre's Check library function to ignore the desktop.ini, viz: Another thought (probably a better one for you): Use the Notebook feature of Comfy's Reminder plugin to store a list of library names and descriptions. Rename your libraries. You can use a long directory name to describe them.

Even better, consolidate them to one physical library and use virtual libraries instead of separate physical ones.

I see a lot of folk use different physical libraries just to isolate what they see unnecessarily, when they just need a filtered view to work with. My 'MainLib' has 3 VL: To Read: formats available + Done Read: false. Reasons FOR separate Library:TBE (to be edited (touched up my way) ): Format EPUB or AZW3 and Edited:false Have Read: #finished:true and formats:true Significant structural (custom columns) or fixed text values differences.

If @Rellwood combined her physical libraries and created an equivalent number of virtual libraries she would presumably use the same arbitrary initialisms as VL names.
And then post something like: Quote:
