kindle touch koreader tts extension help
First of all, hello, I'm a jailbroken Kinle Touch user and I want to read books out loud on my device. I think it's defined as TTS, but I haven't had time to research it enough to understand what it is. I can't read much due to an eye surgery I had, and I only want to look at the screen when necessary and listen to my book during this time. Could you share the title or instructions on how to do this with me? I would be very grateful if you could help me. I wish I had thought of something like this before the surgery, but unfortunately, I thought I could do it afterward, so I'm stuck at this point.

If it has a 3.5mm jack socket it should do TTS. The K3 does.
Later models could have Voiceview installed from Amazon (two downloads) and that needs a generic USB Audio adaptor. I tested the PW3 and it's very awkward compared to DXG and K3 TTS. Then later still there are models with Bluetooth for Voiceview (PW5 and later?). Your phone will work better and give better battery life as the TTS stops the Kindle sleeping while you read a page. On Android the Kindle app stops frequently but the Pocketbook app works very well. On Android you need to update accessibility pack and download languages and voices. |

I've tried KOReader on Android and Kobo and found the only advantage is being able to over-ride specific (usually poor) CSS. Instead I fix the ebooks. I've removed KOReader from the Kobo. Calibre would be far better for this as you then can fix spelling and other faults on the go. Though I use Calibre, I've not used its TTS. TTS on Android, iOS, Windows, Mac or Linux is trivial to setup and use. Native Kindle Touch probably has TTS, but in the past there was no TTS on KOReader. I don't know if it's been added. I think any Kindle and KOReader in particular is a poor choice for TTS, especially if you want to fix spellings. Unofficial KOReader plugins: https://github.com/koreader/contrib Main KOReader page https://github.com/koreader/koreader I downloaded the KOReader APK direct from Git to Android. |
