I've had numerous 10" Android and also a big Win10 tablet like a Surface (worked better with Debian) and they are/were all abysmal compared to the reMarkable for PDFs, which is poorer than the Elipsa (same internal eink screen on version 1 & 2 of both makes). Both of those are rubbish for PDFs campared to the Nxtpaper 14.
Thank you for your practical tips. I personally trust you and your experience with PDFs. Yes, I only need to read PDFs, not novels. I still have a Pixel tablet with GrapheneOS down in the basement. I think I’ll try reading the PDF magazine on that device. Are there any recommendations for Open Source apps? I don’t have the Play Store on it. Thanks.

Only for Linux. I use Okular on Linux. A non-glare, matt, 23" 4K UHD LG screen. Linux Mint with Mate on a Dell 7050 "lunchbox". Not portable!

I use Pocketbook on Android for PDFs and epubs (fixed and reflowable).

The Pixel tablet my friend had was too shiny. Reflections cause headaches as the eyes unconsciously refocus on the further off objects.

Summatra PDF seemed best for Windows Tablets.
