Fields not visible in dropdown for Search & Replace

Thank you for all your hard work, and this beautiful software!

Is there a way to increase the number of visible fields within the drop-down bar in 'Search and replace' during a bulk metadata edit?

I've hit whatever limit there is, and am currently stuck while trying to copy one column to another so that I can have the properly formatted column, and remove the old one.

Alternatively is there a way to allow one to type in the field rather than have the drop-down, so that there are not limitations?

So that instead, I could just type in:
Search Field: '#warnings'
Destination Field: '#contentwarnings'

You can scroll the popup menu with fields by hovering your mouse over the down arrow at the bottom of the menu.

I'm so sorry, but I don't see a down arrow at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

And as you can see, in my saved operation, I have a field called 'tags' but in the drop-down menu, it is no longer visible.

eta: In the first screenshot, this is far down as I can scroll in my drop-down menu.

Sorry! My edit window closed, so double-posting.

Before I forget that I had another question (sorry,) is it possible to wrap the column headers, and even the columns, period? Especially for Yes/No columns, my title is much lengthier than the Yes/No icons, and it would be nice to be able to wrap the text so that I can make the width less.

There are some features in the JobSpy plugin that might help, I haven't used them.

Thank you for this! That is actually something else I was struggling with, but it didn't fix the columns. Unless I'm not understanding your instructions? (Very possible.) In the screenshot examples, I would like for the word 'complete' to appear below the word 'series' if I make the column too narrow for the entire header to fit.

Unfortunately did not correct the situation. But thanks for letting me know about it so I could give it a try!

(I upped the 'increase visible items' twice. And started the visible items increaser daemon. - Those are the things which did not work, specifically. Any other functions I was supposed to see and use will have gone over my head.)

You are on what OS and version of calibre?

Ubuntu 25.04 and calibre (calibre 8.9)

Try running calibre like this:

QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb calibre

and see if your menus have the arrow at the bottom

Ah, hey that worked! I don't see an arrow, but it wasn't necessary because it let me scroll the full length, I guess ^_^ (Is it something I did that title_sort is out of alphabetical order?)

Do I need to open it this way every time (or at least every time I want to use search and replace?) This is probably a bothersome question, so please ignore me if you like, but do you know if there's a way I can attune the Calibre icon on my task bar to open it this way when I click on it, by default?

In case my grammar was too poor there, reworded:
Can I make opening Calibre by clicking on the taskbar icon automatically load it in the same way as 'QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb calibre' does from my terminal?

Yes you can add environment variables ot the calibre .desktop file. google or ask an LLM to show you how.

Ooops -- my mistake. I thought you were talking about the edit metadata screens. There isn't any way to wrap the headings on the booklist.
