Can't delete a chapter from my eBook

I've been using Calibre for years, and usually have no problems, but I've accidentally duplicated a chapter in my eBook and I can't delete it. According to the instructions, it should be a simple matter of right-clicking the html file in the Table of Contents on the left, then select 'delete' from the context menu. But there is no such option. It's not limited to this particular file or ebook, I can't delete a chapter from anything. I've also tried a reinstall/repair on Calibre, with no success.

Can anyone please advise?

Because you don't delete files using the ToC but the file browser. Enable this view in the menu "View" and delete the targeted xhtml file from there.

If you don't know the name of this file, pass over the targeted chapter in the ToC view, you'll see the filename in a tooltip. This in case each file is a chapter, of course (which is most often the case).

@Lomkiri has it. Editing the TOC, does just that. The TOC (only).
I remove unwanted entries (raves, book lists...), but leave the content

Assuming that you have a file-per-chapter (TOC entry) construction.
View that chapter (you can use the existing TOC to get there if it still has the entry. The section (chapter file) is now highlighted in the book browser: right click on it: 'Delete'.
Calibre removes the TOC / NCX entry

What it does NOT do is renumber existing chapters.
(you could also just reposition the section in the list. That adjust the flow BUT NOT the TOC position. That will need an edit or rebuild)

Yes, that got it. I didn't realise the File browser was a separate thing. Thanks.
