Needing help
Something strange started happening to me yesterday with the Sigil Readium plugin, specifically on my Arch Linux installation. Some things stopped showing up, and others started to look bad. I'd appreciate it if anyone willing to open the attached file with the Readium plugin and tell me what they see; I'm primarily interested in the results on Windows and Linux.
For my part, with the Windows version of Sigil, I see the following: While on the Linux version, I see this: I think the problem must be caused by some file updated by Arch that "didn't sit well with the plugin," but since I want to be sure, I'd appreciate it if you could confirm that you have the same results as me. Thank you very much in advance. |

I will test it and report back. But understand that Qt 6.9.x used by Arch has many changes and problems with NVidia based gpus. It may be that.
Update: Testing on MacOS is pretty much like your Windows but exact layout depends on how I resize the Readium window. Ditto for testing in Manjaro Linux (which is Arch based) with Qt 6.9.1 on a box with an AMD gpu. No funny business. Hope this helps. Last edited by KevinH; 08-04-2025 at 05:43 PM. |

I'm seeing what RbnJrg is seeing on Arch Linux. I've not updated my Arch in a while, so I don't think it's a recent update causing the problem. I'm seeing the same thing whether I use the AppImage with Qt6.8.2 or my regular-built Sigil with the system Qt6.9.1. Not sure what's up. Sigil and the Readium plugin is all WebEngine though. Not sure why the webkitgtk libs would factor into it.

OK. It's just the background settings for the Readium Reader. If you reset the Background and Text Colors settings for Readium to "Default (author styles)", everything shows fine. Something with your webkit css image properties isn't playing nice with Readium's custom colors settings (or vice-versa), apparently. Even "Black & White" won't work. It has to be Default (author styles). On Linux at least.
