"Open cover with..."
The "Open cover with..." has an issue on my Windows 11 machine.
I can't get it open in Paint on either the book details or in the metadata editor. I can open the cover by opening the book folder in Explorer and doing an 'Open With Paint' but I can't do it in Calibre. It either doesn't do anything (No window popup) or if I re-add it it opens a Paint window with a blank image. What am I doing incorrectly? How do I set it up to work correctly? Thanks, in advance. I suspect this has to do with how Paint expects the filename to be passed. |

MS Paint works for me on Windows 10, and I didn't do anything special, Here's what's in the configuration windows_open_with.json file
Code:
"cmdline": "\"C:\\Windows\\System32\\mspaint.exe\" \"%1\"" The 'new flaky' Paint is in Win11 Winapps folder, which is hidden inside the Program files folder… <sigh> BR |

Or PaintShopPro or The GIMP.

Well, the Paint has a couple of features I like to use and it is way simpler to use. First it has a remove background feature and saved as png it will put in a transparent background, then it will let you use those images as a drop on to the Generate Image cover created by Calibre so I can very simply have a cover image suited to the book contents. with very few clicks. Yes I have Gimp, but it takes way too much to do the same things.
Maybe I'll try to modify the windows_open_with.json file to access Paint. Thanks. |
