WPD Error or something...
hello @all ^^
When my Fire HD 11 max is connected to my computer with the USB cable and I open Calibre, I get the following message: calibre, version 8.7.0 FEHLER: Unbehandelter Ausnahmefehler: WPDError:C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\conten t_enumeration.cpp:439:Failed to EnumObjects() of folder from device:[hr=0x80042009 wCode=7689 name=INVALID_OBJECT_HANDLE] IDispatch error #7689: o21 calibre 8.7 embedded-python: True Windows-10-10.0.26100-SP0 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '10', '10.0.26100') Python 3.11.12 Windows: ('10', '10.0.26100', 'SP0', 'Multiprocessor Free') Interface language: de EXE path: C:\Program Files\Calibre2\calibre.exe wpd.WPDError: C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\content_e numeration.cpp:439:Failed to EnumObjects() of folder from device:[hr=0x80042009 wCode=7689 name=INVALID_OBJECT_HANDLE] IDispatch error #7689: o21 When I click OK again, the message disappears and I can use Calibre. A connection to the Fire HD 11 Max seems to have been established. I can also say "Copy/Send to my device." But here's the problem. Even when I send the ePub/mobi files, they don't end up in the Books folder or appear in the Kindle library. Is there any way I can get the books back into my Kindle library? (So, after "Send to Device," they'll appear in my library on the device again.) I'm not a fan of the online version with the server, as I'd like to have these books on my device, and downloading them from the server doesn't add them to my library either. I've tried everything, but nothing helps. Can anyone give me some advice? thx in advance |

That is an error listing the files in the device storage. This has been known to happen with some
devices when they contain SD cards. If you remove the SD card, you should be fine. You can try reformatting the card or using a different card as well. |

I've now formatted the SD card as internal storage, and at least I'm only getting an error message. At least I'm only getting the second part of the error message. I still get this with SD-Card as internal storage: FEHLER: Unbehandelter Ausnahmefehler: WPDError:C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\conten t_enumeration.cpp:439:Failed to EnumObjects() of folder from device:[hr=0x80042009 wCode=7689 name=INVALID_OBJECT_HANDLE] IDispatch error #7689: o14 calibre 8.7 embedded-python: True Windows-10-10.0.26100-SP0 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '10', '10.0.26100') Python 3.11.12 Windows: ('10', '10.0.26100', 'SP0', 'Multiprocessor Free') Interface language: de EXE path: C:\Program Files\Calibre2\calibre.exe wpd.WPDError: C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\content_e numeration.cpp:439:Failed to EnumObjects() of folder from device:[hr=0x80042009 wCode=7689 name=INVALID_OBJECT_HANDLE] IDispatch error #7689: o14 and this without any SD-Card: calibre, version 8.7.0 FEHLER: Unbehandelter Ausnahmefehler: WPDError:C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\conten t_enumeration.cpp:439:Failed to EnumObjects() of folder from device:[hr=0x80042009 wCode=7689 name=INVALID_OBJECT_HANDLE] IDispatch error #7689: o6 calibre 8.7 embedded-python: True Windows-10-10.0.26100-SP0 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '10', '10.0.26100') Python 3.11.12 Windows: ('10', '10.0.26100', 'SP0', 'Multiprocessor Free') Interface language: de EXE path: C:\Program Files\Calibre2\calibre.exe wpd.WPDError: C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\content_e numeration.cpp:439:Failed to EnumObjects() of folder from device:[hr=0x80042009 wCode=7689 name=INVALID_OBJECT_HANDLE] IDispatch error #7689: o6 Last edited by MiddleAgedGamer; Yesterday at 09:21 PM. |

That means the error is in the device firmware since both internal and SD card are failing. Your remainig choices are:
1) Reset the Kindle 2) Use wireless transfer 3) Get a replacement from amazon |

Regarding #2.) Is there a way I can see these books in my Kindle library, since I usually use Kindle when I'm offline? And from what I've seen so far regarding the server, this is more of an online reading experience. I haven't yet tried what happens if the computer from which the files were sent to the server is offline. Regarding #3.) This problem also occurred with my old Fire HD 10, and I've already switched to the new one. After the last two Calibre updates and the latest Fire HD 10 update, these problems occurred. I didn't have these problems before. Maybe Amazon did something with the last update? |

I've already tried downloading the books from the Calibre server. But first of all, the downloaded books don't have the same megabyte size as the comparable book on my laptop. The downloaded books also don't appear in my library. |
