File name

Hello!
I am a beginner of calibre. Calibre is absolutely amazing. I only use this program when converting files. When I have to convert a file with only the title in the name, Calibre gives this and the author's name. Which setting should I do to make the file just be called what the file I gave calibre? Grateful if anyone can show me this.

You cannot change filenames in your calibre library. You can use the Save to Disk feature to save your converted files elsewhere on your computer, and for those files you can change the template. Preferences -> Saving books to disk: change the template to {title}.

Go and read the calibre FAQ is the best advice I can give a new user, then read the online manual.

Use the program.

Set up a separate library to use for testing experimenting with.

↑ ↑ ↑ ✔ - to all of the above.

I also suggest downloading a copy of the manual in your preferred format for tech manuals - searching any large manual online is a PITA - search in EPUB and PDF readers is streets ahead.

And watch the video's (Video Tutorials - MobileRead Forums). After each section, go use it on your Test library. The basics haven't changed.

You may also want to read this message from a few years back: Want to change folder structure or file names in the Calibre library?. It still applies.
