Conversion from azw3 to mobi fails due to DRM

I have calibre 8.4.0
I have added the No/Dedrm fork autorelease version (its still shows up as 10.0.9 though when looking at installed plugins)
I have the KFX input 2.25.0 plug in installed
I have my kindle keyboard serial number added to NoDRM

I got a book I bought from amazon and had it sent to my kindle keyboard and I got it as a azw3 file.

Plug my kindle into the PC via usb added the book to my calibre library however when I try converting from azw3 to mobi it gives me an error CANNOT CONVERT: book is locked by drm.

The book is fairly new as it released in April 24 2025.

Any tips?

Okay after reading more thread i found how to open calibre in debug mode and tried converting it and looking at the txt file that result after closing calibre down I saw this here:

DeDRM v10.0.9: Failed to decrypt with error: No key found in 2 PIDs tried.

Thus I rechecked my serial in DeDRM and changed what I thought were "O" to "0" and now it is working so was user error on my end I guess.

Calistn, there are other threads that note there are Problems with books released on or after 22 Apr 2025. I cannot tell enough about your Kindle setup — and wouldn't be the primary resource anyway, as I use K4PC only! — to see if you're running into the same problem(s) as reported on K4PC.

What appears to have happened is that Amazon updated some "feature" parts of Kindle downloads for release on or after 22 Apr, requiring in turn updating K4PC from 2.4 (which works with various other plugins to import Kindle books into Calibre) to 2.7 (which... doesn't; at least not yet). I have been told by People Who Would Know that it wasn't just K4PC, but support software for "most" versions of the Kindle device.

I recommend you ask this question again in the thread for KFX Input under Plugins — you'll get more device-specific answers than I could possibly point at or provide.

That does not apply to Kindle Readers. And especially not a Kindle that can not get KFX but can get KF8.

Thanks for the replies but its all sorted out, the issue was the kindle reader serial and me mistaking the number 0 with the letter O.

Once that was corrected I was able to import the book from my kindle keyboard straight into calibre and it stripped the drm fine and I am now able to convert it to other file formats.
