Yeah.

I admit that if Kobo implemented some way to sync reading progress between sideloaded books, I might use it. But not if it involved sending books to a cloud. I have far too many books on my Kobos to send them anywhere over wifi, and besides, I want to use calibre for sideloading (metadata and collections).

I'm hoping that I'll have less need of it when my replacement Sage arrives, and can just keep reading on my preferred device

While the Sage is usually my preferred device, sometimes I want to read on my Libra 2. The screen looks just so nice in daylight (there's much less difference between the Sage and the Libra with artificial light).

Navigating to the ebooks would sometimes cause the device to crash.

At the time I remember checking out the forums to see if anyone else was reporting issues like I was experiencing and I found enough that I decided to return the device and try the Pocketbook instead.

The same ebooks that crashed on the Kobo opened just fine on the Pocketbook HD2. Maybe I had a lemon device but at the time I decided to just go with another vendor.

It seems some users are still occasionally experiencing this. I've had very, very few crashes with the 3 Kobo models I've used. I don't even remember the last time it happened. Not for several months, maybe a year or even more.

I know someone who recently purchased a Kobo and she reported it crashed on her a few times. I think she sent it in to Kobo to fix, or send a replacement device? But it had issues.

Now to be fair, the Pocketbook HD3 crashed a few times and I eventually discovered it was because I messed up the font reference in my css for a few of the ebooks. It was a real puzzle because it wasn't happening with my fan fiction. I found out I accidentally added a space in my notepad file where I was storing the css code for referencing fonts when I edited published novels. My FanFicFare css didn't have that space.

I've had my Kobo Libra 2 for about 3 years now, and zero issues with it. Been pretty reliable, no crashing.
