I've found a big in the Apple Books cover plugin. I can change the number of covers to download past 2. But I can only specify 2 countries to download from. Either the number has to be limited to 2 or it has to allow more countries when the number is set past 2.

Jon, if you look at my previous message with 10 covers, 5 of those are downloaded using Canada as the country, the other 5 are downloaded using UK as the country.. Only two of the covers are the 'correct' cover for Dark in Death. The limit of 5 covers I was using is 5 covers per country for a maximum of 2x5 i.e. 10.

It's intentional that you can choose to download more covers than there are stores. When searching for a book the first result may not always be the correct one, or there may be multiple different editions in a store, and so you may want to get multiple covers per store just to be on the safe side.

If the idea was to only download a single result per store then there would be no need to configure the result count in the first place.

I thought the number was to say if you wanted 1 or two stores to be downloaded from. If you want a third country, how does that happen?

You ask nicely for an enhancement? Though I personally don't see much use for multiple countries. One time I was playing around with other countries and very few English language books were not using either the UK or NA covers.

I'm set to download from the US and UK. One of the two covers will do.

Any attempt to get a cover from Apple ends with a HTTP Error 404: Not Found message. One might be tempted to suspect that Apple has made changes in their web site.

Yes, this seems to be some change in the API. When restricting searches to ebooks (as this plugin is doing) then every search results in a 404 error. When searching for all media types the results will not have any ebooks in them. I couldn't find anything about ebook searches being discontinued, so maybe this is just a temporary issue. If not then I'm not sure what this plugin could do to make it work again unfortunately.

That's a shame that we can no longer get covers from Apple. Do you know of any other sources that can give hi-res covers?

I've just released a new version of the plugin which should make it work again, thanks to John Connuck. I've bumped the version to 1.0.0 since the plugin is essentially feature-complete at this point.

I've been using the Apple covers for manually adding covers to my library for some time. I was very pleased to see that this plugin existed for automating it. I've been running into some problems though, and the plugin isn't nearly as consistent as I'd hoped. I'd like to thank you for developing it nonetheless.

The website I had been using for manual searching is this:

... which I assume is using the same database as this plugin, since it's iTunes/Apple?

If that is the case, then searching for "The Fifth Season" (just one example) on this website returns a high resolution cover. In Calibre the plugin doesn't return any hits from the US at all, while the UK returns a number of covers, all of them wrong.

Any idea what the issue might be?
