Fixing metadata after moving books
Hello! I am new here, so sorry if I am doing something wrong.
I was hoping to get some help with an issue I am having. I have a Kobo Clara HD running koreader and I use calibre to transfer books. So I just reorganized the folders on my Kobo, and am struggling with getting the old metadata transferred over so I keep my bookmarks and progress. Right now my books are all in a "calibre" folder, and I have book metadata set to book folder. What I have tried doing is copying all the old metadata into that book folder, which did not work. I have also tried opening the book so it generates a new metadata file and then overwriting it with the old file. Neither of these methods seem to be working. Any ideas on how to fix this? |

If you have set "Book metadata location" to "book folder", all the metadata for a <book-name.epub> is stored in a folder <book-name.sdr> located in the book folder.
You can move a book together with its sdr folder to any location, the metadata is preserved. When you move books by KOReader file browser, the metadata is moved automatically. |

I gave that a shot and it mostly worked. For some odd reason some of my books still are not using the old metadata. Luckily it is not that many of them, so it is not too much of a loss.
If I wanted to reorganize or change my books naming scheme in the future is there some best practice way to do that which avoids having to manually mess around with the metadata? |

Renaming/moving a book in KOReader file browser always keeps metadata intact.
