Been using Bookerly and Bitter for the longest time. Somehow my font taste has changed and finally stopped using Bitter. I still love Bookerly, but found the width a bit too wide. It was a bit strange that initially, I didn't care for ChareInk6 much when I first tried the font.

I somehow discovered Charter, then Xcharter and love it. Then found out about Charis v7, then gave both Charis and ChareInk7 a try and loved both too. To be honest, I can't really tell the difference between Xcharter vs Charis vs ChareInk while reading books as the fonts are pleasant and I focus more on the book. I'm sure there's differences, just not obvious differences, since I don't read languages in other languages.

Either way, loving these fonts. Thanks! =)
You are very welcome.

There are differences with ChareInk7SP. The space and non-breaking space have been reduced in width. Also, the light height in the metadata has been reduced. On a Kindle reading KF8, you get more lines as it reduces the line height Amazon sets.

For me, the section I bolded in the quote was one of the most important criteria when I was looking for fonts to use when reading on an eInk device. I wanted to not notice the font when I am reading. Like many other things, it is a very personal choice—one acquaintance prefers reading with sans-serif fonts which to me are anathema for body text.

I too do not like reading with sans-serif as the main body font.

When I am using ChareInk7SP, I just read. I don't pay attention to the font. If I was to use something like Bookerly, that gets in the way.

In regards to chareink7sp no weight, do you intend for sp to be your standard or will there be a regular chareink7.

I'll create a version that has the full size space. Personally, I prefer the smaller space. I'll do this soon. Next week sometime most likely.

I prefer the small space too. I was just curious overall.

ChareInkSP7 seems to have more empty space between letters/words than ChareInkSP6. Is that intended or something on my end?

ChareInk7SP comes with kerning. CareInk6SP did not come with kerning. With ChareInk5, I created the kerning and made it tighter then most kerning. With ChareInk7SP, I'm using the Kerning that comes with it.

But shouldn't kerning remove spaces rather than add them?

Anyway, I'll compare SP6 and SP7 some more when I have the time. They both look good

The kerning I used was not perfect and I made it rather tight. Normal kerning is usually not that tight.

I'm not a fan of tight Keming. Especially on a sans font.

No, Kerning puts appropriate spacing depending on the characters. Spaces are not added or removed within a word. Fully justified text can use various tricks (on KFX and PDFs) to vary letter and word spacing to reduce white rivers or hyphens. Only monospace fonts are not kerned. Any proportional font needs kerned for best appearance and while a proportional font will work with a fixed space between each letter as the space taken by a letter varies (i vs w), certain combinations can be more tightly, or even possibly less tightly (in some languages) spaced. A few languages don't use kerning as such, either simply using fixed size spacing, or different forms of the letters (Arabic).
