Quote:
A Bram Stoker Award Nominee and CALIBA Golden Poppy Award finalist
A Best Book of 2023 (Vulture) and a Best Horror Book of 2023 (Esquire, Library Journal)

Welcome to Neverton, Montana: home to a God-fearing community with a heart of gold.

Nestled high up in the mountains is Camp Damascus, the self-proclaimed “most effective” gay conversion camp in the country. Here, a life free from sin awaits. But the secret behind that success is anything but holy.

And they’ll scare you straight to hell.

Man, I have heard so much good stuff about Camp Damascus. It is a book that is right up my alley. But I just can't get past Chuck Tingle's previous output: Journey To The Center Of My Butt, My Macaroni And Cheese Is A Lesbian Also She Is My Lawyer, Pounded In The Butt By My Handsome Sentient Library Card Who Seems Otherworldly But In Reality Is Just A Natural Part Of The Priceless Resources Our Library System Provides...

I think Chuck would have been better off publishing Camp Damascus under another name. Even if it was the 'Chuck Tingle writing as XXX' type of thing.

Camp Damascus is nothing like Tingle's erotica - nothing explicit. YA feel, not very horrific, but a fun read.

Well, I find the titles hilarious. And the name 'Chuck Tingle' has me MENTALLY chuckling and tingling at the hilarity of the name.

I wonder if there's any relationship to Asimov's Fantastic Voyage. (Maybe the 'voyage' was cut short....)

Nope. It's a lost world scenario with dinousaurs, riffing on Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth.

That was a rhetorical question. I actually read the book when it was first serialized in 1966 (?) Was that Saturday Evening Post? (Too lazy to check.)

(Sorry, I meant to go to QUOTE and was actually in EDIT. Nothing in your post was changed. )

These Things Linger by Dan Franklin
$0.99 Amazon US

Quote:
When Alex Wilson’s estranged uncle unexpectedly dies, Alex realizes he would do just about anything to make peace with the man who had raised him as his own.

He’d even reach out to the dead.

But things more dangerous than ghosts haunt his uncle’s broken down trailer and the nearly abandoned one-gas-station town of Fair Hill just beyond. Things that can devour the living and the dead alike, and are all too ready to answer his call.

Some parts of our past never really leave us. There are things that don’t know how to die.

These things linger.
