Sadly, all too often people fall for these things. And really, if you figure the cost of sending out several million emails as pennies, and if even one person falls for it, the economics are in your favour.

Prado's partner, Cory St. James, says he tried to point out the red flags that popped up. For example, he says, the seller only accepted payment in prepaid Visa and Mastercard gift cards. I love when I'm doing surveys and they ask me "In the last week, have you experienced trembling in the hands?" in a series of questions obviously about anxiety. I have Parkinson's, so I have no idea what the hell am I supposed to answer here?

We're getting those "I'm your grand-son/daughter" calls, which would be far less hysterical if they realized that we don't have KIDS. What, are kittens calling me from Kokomo?

As that WhatsApp I got from my "son" that needed money because he had been robbed. Taking into account I don't have neither children nor cats... even Kokomo is not an option...

Yup, same thing, really. Meow-meow-meow-yow, Meow-meow-meow-yow, ...screw 'em. If they can call and annoy me, trying to misdirect me to some scam site, they can listen to a recording of my cranky Maine Coon when he's in a snivet. I say to them, "oh, then you want to speak to his Dad," and I play the recording.....mwhaahahah.

P.S. before ANYBODY lectures me (!!!), no, the cat, despite his lines, has never been bred. Neutered, no breeding, no kitties, nada, zip, zein, zilch. I'm a huge believer in zero population growth for kitties/puppies/etc. until we get shelters and the like emptied to at least a QUASI-reasonable size. Every animal I get (even a mare once) has been neutered, no matter what. (It made me cry, to be honest, about an amazing g Dutch WM Stallion I had once, with remarkable athletic capabilities and for those of us into these things, astonishing bloodlines, but...I did it anyway. Sigh.)

Yes, cut late (not proud! for those of us who know thereover I speak), but a non-breeder, nonetheless. Crushed my soul, really. But OTOH, I also knew that no eventually-unwanted, higher-end sons or daughters of his line would end up in the kill line, due to being bought by overhorsed brats and ladies-who-lunch.

One of my mom's elderly friends had this happen a few years ago. She is 97 now, but was still driving herself at the time. She went to her bank to pull out a sizable chunk of cash, and the teller alerted the manager. Thankfully they stopped her from doing anything dumb. I don't remember the details, but there was a lot of money involved.

I've reminded my 93 year old mom repeatedly that IF any of her grandkids ever needed help, she would not be who they would call. She isn't gullible, but she is changing with her thought processes as she gets older.
