Marsh, Richard: A Spoiler of Men. v1. 13-Jun-2021

A bizarre thriller involving chemical zombification ...

If with a touch, say, of a hypodermic needle, it were possible to so transform a person that the person touched should become as clay in the hands of the wielder of the needle, what a power would be usurped by the individual who knew just how to direct that needle! — what a danger he would be to society; to every man, woman, child — every living thing — with whom he came into contact! According to Professor Chrenberg, of Heidelberg, the thing is scientifically possible, has actually been done: and “A Spoiler of Men” is the story of the man who did it.
(—First edition blurb)

==========
Richard Marsh (12 October 1857 – 9 August 1915) was the pseudonym of English author Richard Bernard Heldmann. One of the most popular and prolific authors of the late-Victorian and Edwardian periods, he is best known now for his supernatural thriller novel The Beetle, which for a time outsold Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Marsh produced nearly 80 volumes of fiction and numerous short stories, in genres including horror, crime, romance and humor.
