Where's the logic - Pizza is a Vegetable?

The U.S Congress has passed the bill: "The joint House-Senate agriculture spending bill" declaring Pizza as a vegetable. The reason pizza can get away with being classified as a vegetable is the fact that the two tablespoons of tomato paste is enough for Congress to make the distinction .

American lawmakers have ruled that the amount of tomato paste in pizza sauce means that pizzas can be counted as a vegetable.
Actually anything containing two tablespoons of tomato sauce can be labelled a vegetable but the newspapers know how to spin a headline.

The frozen food industry (American Frozen Food Institute/AFFI) certainly got good value for there money spent on lobbying the politicians.

Quote:
MSNBC reports that politicians had been lobbied heavily by the frozen food industry who didn’t want to see a major revenue stream cut off given how often pizza is found on the menus of school canteens in the US.

Quote:
The bill bars the Department of Agriculture from putting in place tough new standards that are scheduled to go into effect next year. The spending bill would classify tomato paste on pizzas as a vegetable, eliminate limitations which keep potatoes and other starchy vegetables to two servings per week and weaken restrictions on sodium.
