I had this problem with my 500; I eventually gave up using a memory card because it made everything so slow.
I've just bought a 505, and I'm curious to know whether it behaves in the same way. But I note that the 505 has no more sophisticated ways of organizing a collection than the 500 had, so stuffing the thing with 5000 books might just lead to being unable to find anything :/
