greenapple, that's a slight overstatement, don't you think?
We don't know that iRiver either "couldn't" or
wouldn't fix the shortcomings in the firmware. Version 1.71 hasn't been out very long, we don't know their development cycle, and they haven't made any comment on it one way or the other.
They really should have made a statement, at least, to their customers, and I think the fact that they haven't is in itself a failure on their part. Several features of the firmware *
do not* work as they claim them to, and I think the onus is on the company to either fix them or explain why. But that's not the same as them being unable or unwilling to fix them.
