I've got a degree in Geology, but that didn't stop me from really enjoying Jack Vance's
Big Planet. Just don't try to come up with a pseudo-scientific explanation when you're breaking the rules! Like a patch on a worn elbow, it just calls attention to itself. (as always, IMHO!)
Three or four times larger? Diameter? Volume? If it spins fast enough to have a 24 hour day, that might be a good way to introduce extreme storms and winds. Sounds like fun!
