This would indicate that the hardware (iron) has not changed but the Chinese support is only on the newer device although I am not quite sure what shelf means. Probably a bad translation of that word. The firmware is larger on the new one for sure.
According to buggins
Simple test - if piercing with the old shelf does not earn - means iron new, and it is necessary to [pereproshit] with the new shelf
So try the old first and if it fails you have a new one.
