Joseph Conrad had a few books set in the tropics, but not about castaways. "Victory" was probably my favourite of them, although "Lord Jim" is by far more widely read.

"Pincher Martin" by William Golding is a pure castaway book, but it takes place in the North Atlantic, so not tropical at all. Still, it was quite a sensation in its time.
