Wow, when you say methodology, you mean methodology!
I guess you could say I read by "mood" (i.e. can't read a funny book and a somber book at the same time). And when I start a series, I read the books back-to-back to stay in the mood and story. There are so many exceptions in my reading patterns that calling it a methodology would be laughable. I just read what my mood dictates.
