Posting as a PSA - This information is out there in a couple of places, but easy to miss and for me, mostly downplayed it relative to my experience.

There is a visible grid on the screen that does not go away, though if you hold the device far enough away you can't see it. It is still visible to me holding the device about 1 foot away. My understanding is it is a sensor grid for the pen. If buying either 2nd gen Sony as an ebook device, this is something to consider.

It was annoying enough for me using the device as an ebook reader that I returned the device. I previously owned the DPT-S1 (used for years and sold it about 6 months ago), and do not remember ever noticing anything similar.
