I think you might like "Bringing Out the Dead" by Joe Connelly. It's fiction but the author was an NYC EMT for many years.

I couldn't get into WITAWITAR
Just the writing style, the same as one of the running books on my not finished list.
I do like Oliver Sacks but couldn't get too much into Hat or Musicophilia. I'll check out that book thanks
