OK, so I'm making progress:
PeterT, you are correct, the books that have no download option beside them are indeed books that were free on the kobo site. So that explains that.
So I'm now installed Adobe Digital Editions on my desktop and have successfully downloaded the "Adobe DRM" books onto my desktop. Next I'll attempt to copy them onto the vox and let you know if that leads to success or more questions!
