What's wrong with your dictionaries partition?
If your problem lies with the dictionaries partition, you may simply replace it without going through the reformatting process. Please make sure you have a full backup just in case something goes wrong.
On Ubuntu it is /dev/sdx6 where x could be b, c, d, etc depending on how many other drives you have connected on your computer.
