Cooper, James Fenimore: Die Monikins. V1. [German] 8.12.2011
Der Roman "Die Monikins" von James Fenimore Cooper zeigt wiederum eine neue Facette dieses versierten Dichters; hier wandelt er auf satirischen Pfaden und geißelt die sinnlosen Auswüchse des Kapitalismus. Monikins, wie die Titelillustration sie zeigt, sind Äffchen; den Begriff hat Cooper also in einer Paronomasie aus "money" und "monk" destilliert.
(Passt prima - damals wie heute!)
