Very interesting. I wonder if this also works for Kindles that were factory reset but never connected to the internet post-reset...

Hmm, tempted to get a used PW3 now that I've discovered ebay seller goodystore. At $120-140 plus tax for a Kindle w/o Special Offers, I wouldn't attempt it. At $40, seems worth a try.
