I don't know why, but so many horror movies seem to use uncommon time signatures in their main themes. The Exorcist had that wonderful piece from Tubular Bells (three measures of 4/4 followed by one of 3/4), and the Halloween movies had that intense Michael Myers Theme music (5/4). I guess it's to throw you just a bit of balance before the movie even starts, but whatever the reason, it makes for some interesting listening.
