An update to @sic after I tried copying some files to the Reader with PRSUtil (given by GeekRaver in the Reader Development section): Trying Oliver Twist pdf from beta.feedbooks.com formatted for the Reader, found the experience was pretty good, no slow page turns! As fast as the LRFs. Then I transferred the file with the Connect software after deleting it from the Reader, and found the page turns to be just as fast. So maybe it is a property of the pdf file itself and does not depend on the way it is transferred. The Sony manual continues to turn pages slowly, 3 sec.
