Charging While Using?

I carry around a Zagg 6AH portable battery, with its USB receptacles for charging many of my portable devices.

But the Kobo won't let me "charge" while using - it "thinks" that the input power form the battery pack is a computer, and will not allow "normal" use of the device.

Is this something that a future firmware revision could address? I would like to be able to "trickle charge" with an external battery while actually reading.

Any ideas from the "engineer types" here? (grin)
