I wonder if you can do the same as the workaround I use with Kindle's; use the polish book option in calibre as one of the things this will do is add a page at the beginning of the book that lists all the book's metadata, including the summary. Along with using plugboards for organising books by series, these are two of my favourite features of Calibre. As with the plugboards, once you polish the books you have to resend the book to your device for the metadata to appear.
