They needed to do something because a ton of people are/were posting negative reviews that don't even own the products.

For awhile that anti-DRM group was urging everyone to post negative reviews for the Kindle and Kindle DX because of DRM. These people don't even own the device but still post one star reviews and then complain about DRM.

There are also people who post phony positive reviews to drive sales of certain products.

And while we are on the topic, I noticed that the PRS-900 has a bunch of phony reviews on Sony's website already too. Especially the first one. The guy says he's had it for a month. Sounds like total BS to me.
