Doitsu -- for python2+3 you can use:

clipboard = Gtk.Clipboard.get(Gdk.SELECTION_CLIPBOARD)
image = cb.wait_for_text()

PyGtk is deprecated (that's why there is no python3 version) and they want you to use PyGObject instead.
