Make Calibre Content Server to serve the original EPUBs

I'm puzzled by the following behavior of calibre and want to get it fixed.

This is what I've observed
1) Calibre Content Server generates a new EPUB book file on-the-fly by modifying the original EPUB book file with its current metadata as saved in Calibre's Content Library.
2) However, if I drag-and-drop the book from Calibre to your PC desktop, then what comes out is always the unmodified original book file.

Sometimes I want to download the original EPUB file.
1) Is there an option to turn off such on-the-fly file modification as in case #1?
2) If not, can such an option be added, say, to "Preferences | Sharing over the net"?

Thanks
