The Kindle has the best dictionaries of any reader on the market. It doesn't come with a French translation dictionary (only a purely French dictionary), but hundreds of dictionaries are available to buy in the Kindle store. There is, for example, a Collins French to English dictionary available at a moderate price which appears to be well-reviewed.

The Kobo has very poor dictionaries; if they are an important feature for you, it's probably best to look elsewhere.
