3M Cloud Library Goes Live at St Paul Public Library

The 3M Cloud Library is finally rolling out. Time will tell if it'll be successful.

Quote:
E-books have been available for virtual checkout at the St. Paul Public Library for quite a while. As of Wednesday, April 25, though, the supply of the digital volumes has mushroomed by roughly 50 percent.

The public library system, in a partnership with Maplewood-based 3M, is debuting an e-book service dubbed 3M Cloud Library for those who want to read on their computers, phones, tablets or e-book readers.

3M Cloud Library, which has been in development for more than a year, will complement a rival OverDrive e-book- lending service used by public library systems in Minnesota and around the country.

3M Cloud Library is bringing major changes to St. Paul Public Library branches. Touch-screen terminals have been installed at the Central, Arlington Hills and Sun Ray branches so patrons can peruse more than 3,100 digital volumes in the Cloud Library catalog and transfer titles to their Cloud Library accounts for reading on their computers or mobile devices.
