I still have 2 Iliads, but not using them currently. I like them too much to sell them, and unless e-reader innovation speeds up, my kids will inherit them :-)
If your Iliad was out of commission for 5 years, you might find that the batteries won't charge (the Iliad has two batteries), or that the battery life is disappointing (less than a day). Fortunately you can replace the batteries, or have them replaced at a specialist shop. Don't expect miracles though: the Iliad doesn't have power management (standby/sleep mode), so even with the new batteries I was getting 1-2 days of active use on a charge. I was o.k. with this, just charged it every night.
