I have been reading the comments and I get the feeling you are trying to talk Sony out of the market.

Obviously I cannot speak for the US but Sony appear to have got over their supply problems here in the UK. I know that they seem to have upset the resellers such as Waterstones and PC World but the Sony stores have stock all the time.
650 and 350 available in all colours from Sony store, 300, 350, 505 and 600 all available through Amazon UK, and a quick Google shows the 650 is available from at least another 10 on-line stores.

Personally I think we should all just wait and see what transpires. There is no point worrying about something that may or may not happen, and to be honest there is nothing we can do about it anyway.
I've noticed a slight improvement in availability, but at the end of the day regardless of quality, the Sony Readers are being well and truly beaten on price - and to a certain extent high street availability of the Kindle.

Our local Tesco - they have both kindle variants in stock at a "limited" price that basically is the rrp.

Call into PC World, and on their display of various tablet devices, they have both the kindle and the PRS-350 & 650.

The Sony Readers are considerably more expensive than the Kindle, but with no real selling point over and above the Kindle - I hate to say it, but I really do feel as though the Kindle has almost got the e-Reader market to itself.

Well, that and the fact that I found yesterday that Jerry Pournelles latest in the Mote in gods eye series is only available in print and kindle form - its not available for any other platform, at least not yet.
